Microprocessor
- Multi task
- Ram, rom, i/o ports & timer can be added externally and can vary in numbers
- Designers can decide the number of ports needed
- External support external memory and i/o ports makes a micro processor system heavier and costlier
- External device require more space
Microcontroller
- single task oriented
- Ram, rom, i/o ports & timer can't be added externally
- These components are to be embedded together on a chip and are fixed in numbers
- Fixed number of memory or i/o makes a micro controller idea for limited but specific task
- Light weight cheaper than micro processor
- Less power and takes less space
